The Orioles traded left-handed reliever Richard Bleier to the Marlins for a player to be named following Friday night's 6-3 win over the Rays, ending one of the longest-tenured player's stints with the club.
Bleier, 33, is 8-1 with a 2.99 ERA in 166 appearances over the past five seasons, four coming with the Orioles. He posted a 1.97 ERA over his first three seasons before undergoing lat surgery in 2018, then pitched to a career-high 5.37 ERA in 53 games in 2019.
Fully healthy again, Bleier had yet to allow a run in two appearances this season for the Orioles. Baltimore had four scheduled games postponed this week against the Marlins, whose season is currently suspended after a number of players tested positive for COVID-19.
